The 11th edition of the Sharjah Women’s Run 2025 concluded with over 350 female participants from various nationalities competing at Al Suyoh Ladies Park in Sharjah. Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of Sharjah Family and Community Council, the event carried the theme “Launch Towards Space and the Future,” showcasing the emirate’s commitment to women’s sports and community wellness.

The Sharjah Women’s Run featured strong competition across different categories, with Emirati participants demonstrating particularly notable representation. According to event organizers, the gathering served as an annual platform for promoting female athletics in the emirate while creating a safe and motivating environment for women to engage in physical activity.

Race Results and Winners

In the 5-kilometer category, Ruqayya Al Mukayyim secured first place in the overall competition. Moyene Mutoko finished in second position, while Nurayim Erkibayeva claimed third place in the competitive race.

Additionally, organizers recognized the top three Emirati participants separately. Ruqayya Al Marzouqi, Noura Al Khalf, and Sara Kohar earned the first, second, and third positions respectively in the national participants category, highlighting local athletic talent.

Sustainability Initiative Introduced

This year’s Sharjah Women’s Run marked a significant development with the introduction of a comprehensive sustainability initiative. The program reflected the event’s commitment to environmental responsibility and aligned with the UAE’s broader vision for a sustainable future, according to club officials.

The sustainability measures included practical environmental actions throughout the event. Race bags were manufactured entirely from recycled materials, while medals were crafted from recycled bamboo. Furthermore, organizers provided dedicated containers for recycling water bottles in collaboration with Bee’ah, the region’s environmental management company.

Empowering Women Through Sport

Shaikha Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director General of Sharjah Ladies Club, stated that this year’s success reflected the club’s mission to establish sports as a lifestyle and encourage women’s participation in safe, motivating environments. The initiative aligns with Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher’s vision for women’s athletic empowerment and supports balanced healthy choices that positively impact families and communities, she noted.

In contrast to previous editions, the 2025 event incorporated a stronger community responsibility component. Al Suwaidi emphasized that the sustainability initiative represented a practical step demonstrating the club’s commitment to supporting the UAE’s direction toward a more conscious and sustainable future while reinforcing positive environmental behaviors among participants.

Year of the Family Alignment

The Sharjah Women’s Run 2025 also aligned with the UAE’s designation of the Year of the Family. This connection underscored how individual health and athletic participation contribute to broader family and societal wellbeing, according to organizers.

Al Suwaidi indicated that the club would continue organizing high-quality sports and community events throughout the year. These activities aim to enhance women’s health and strengthen their presence in society while maintaining the momentum created by successful gatherings like the annual run.

However, the diverse international participation demonstrated the event’s growing regional appeal beyond local boundaries. Meanwhile, the dedicated categories for Emirati participants ensured local athletes received recognition and encouragement to pursue athletic excellence within their community.

Organizers have not yet announced specific dates or plans for the 12th edition of the Sharjah Women’s Run, though the event’s consistent annual scheduling suggests another iteration will likely occur in 2026. The continuation of sustainability initiatives and potential expansion of participation categories remain to be confirmed.
