The United Arab Emirates secured five gold medals at the closing ceremony of the Dubai International Stamp Exhibition 2026, demonstrating exceptional quality in philatelic collections. According to official reports, Emirati participants showcased distinguished presentations that earned international recognition at the prestigious event. Abdullah Khoury, president of the Emirates Philatelic Association, and Dr. Prakob Chirakiti, president of the International Federation of Philatelic Societies, presented the gold medals during the closing ceremony. Representatives from participating countries and presidents of Gulf, Arab, and international philatelic associations attended the event. The ceremony marked the conclusion of what organizers describe as the most successful edition of the Dubai International Stamp Exhibition to date.
Record-Breaking Gold Medal Achievements in Stamp Collecting
Abdullah Khoury received the Grand National Award along with the Grand Gold Medal for his exhibit titled “Abu Dhabi Stamps from the Trucial States to the United Arab Emirates.” Meanwhile, Ahmed bin Issa Al Serkal earned a gold medal for his presentation on “A Study of Abu Dhabi Stamps 1963-1973.” These accomplishments underscore the depth of knowledge among Emirati philatelists.
Khaled Al Omairah collected two gold medals at the Dubai stamp exhibition, the first for his display “Dubai from Postal Agency to Permanent Post Office 1909-1948” and the second for “Postal History of Abu Dhabi 1963-1971.” Additionally, Thomas Johansson received a gold medal for his exhibition on “Development of Indian Postal Services in the Arabian Gulf – The Classical Period.” The diverse topics reflected the rich postal heritage of the region.
