Bani Yas Club has claimed the title of the UAE Mother of the Nation Jiu-Jitsu Cup, following two days of intense competition at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Academy in Abu Dhabi. The championship, which concluded on February 1, 2026, featured female athletes from clubs and academies across the United Arab Emirates and drew significant family attendance throughout the event.
Al Ain Club finished in second place in the overall standings, while Al Jazira Club secured third position. The tournament showcased the growing prominence of women’s jiu-jitsu in the UAE and demonstrated the competitive spirit among participating athletes.
Government Officials Attend Women’s Jiu-Jitsu Championship
Her Excellency Sana bint Mohammed Suhail, Minister of Family, attended the competitions and participated in the awards ceremony alongside several prominent officials. Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Chairman of Bani Yas Club Board of Directors, Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, board member of the federation, were also present at the event.
The Minister praised the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for elevating the sport to high levels of excellence and creativity. According to Her Excellency, the UAE Mother of the Nation Jiu-Jitsu Cup reflects the advanced status of women’s sports in the country and highlights the crucial role families play in supporting their daughters’ athletic development.
Family Support Essential for Female Athletes
Her Excellency emphasized that the championship demonstrates the importance of the family environment in a female athlete’s journey. “Real support begins at home through instilling values of commitment, discipline, and self-confidence, which accompany the girl to the competition mat and are clearly reflected in her performance,” the Minister said, according to the official statement.
She added that supporting women’s sports contributes to building balanced personalities capable of giving back. The initiative provides girls with genuine opportunities to discover their potential within a supportive national and family framework that aligns with development aspirations.

Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi stated that the UAE Mother of the Nation Cup is a precious championship carrying a dear name and significant national value. According to Al Raisi, this achievement extends a long path of success reflecting continuous attention to women’s sports within the club.
He acknowledged the support of His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who serves as President of Bani Yas Club. The official congratulated the club’s female athletes for adding a new bright page to Bani Yas’s distinguished record.
Federation Strategy Focuses on Development
Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the federation, congratulated the winning clubs and confirmed that the championship represents a key milestone within the federation’s strategy. The tournament aims to develop women’s jiu-jitsu and build a strong base of female athletes capable of representing the UAE in various forums.
Al Dhaheri noted that the technical levels witnessed during the championship reflect the continuous work of clubs and academies in preparing athletes. Additionally, the family presence in the stands demonstrates the sport’s connection to society and its role in establishing positive values among generations.
The federation official emphasized that the organization is committed to providing a system of championships that give female athletes opportunities for continuous development.
