Global digital infrastructure provider Khazna Data Centers has launched Khazna NexOps, a specialized in-house operations entity designed to deliver enhanced consistency, responsiveness, and operational excellence for hyperscale and AI-ready infrastructure. The Abu Dhabi-based company announced the initiative on February 9, 2026, marking a strategic shift from vendor-dependent operations to internal capabilities across more than 30 data centers.
With this launch, Khazna transitions to a fully internalized operations model aimed at meeting the demands of AI workloads and high-density computing environments. The move represents a significant investment in accountability and customer experience as downtime becomes increasingly costly for enterprise clients.
Rapid Expansion of Internal Operations Teams
In less than 12 months, the Khazna NexOps team expanded from 20 specialists to more than 230 professionals, according to the company. This rapid scaling demonstrates the organization’s commitment to building robust internal operational capabilities rather than relying on third-party service providers.
Bart Hulsters, General Manager of Khazna NexOps, explained that operational management cannot be treated as secondary in an environment where even minutes of downtime carry significant consequences. The internal operations model enables more consistent execution and faster decision-making through a service framework tailored to mission-critical hyperscale environments.
Standardized Processes and Competency-Based Execution
Khazna has developed more than 5,000 operational files to support repeatable and auditable practices across all locations. The company implemented a structured capability model that defines operational layers across staffing, processes, key performance indicators, and governance, to be applied through phased rollout and digitization throughout 2026.
Additionally, the organization adopted a “competency-linked execution” approach, where training, certification, and skills assessment directly correlate with work order assignments. This ensures that critical tasks are performed exclusively by certified and qualified personnel, reducing operational risk and improving reliability.
AI-Powered Automation Enhances Data Center Operations
As part of the Khazna NexOps launch, advanced automation systems have been integrated into daily operations. In collaboration with Presight, Khazna is deploying an AI-powered command-and-control platform to manage its growing portfolio of data centers from a secure artificial intelligence center in Abu Dhabi.
The platform uses artificial intelligence to monitor power, cooling, equipment performance, and security while predicting issues before they occur and optimizing operations around the clock. This proactive approach aims to minimize unplanned downtime and enhance overall infrastructure resilience.
Climate Intelligence and Robotics Integration
In partnership with AlphaGeo, Khazna has embedded climate intelligence into its core operations. By integrating physical climate forecasts, infrastructure resilience metrics, and socioeconomic indicators, operational teams receive real-time data supporting long-term design decisions and operational risk management.
Furthermore, the company has conducted trials with robotic patrol units that support inspection rounds and can help detect non-compliance situations or abnormal indicators such as thermal signatures, leaks, vibrations, and other early warning signals within controlled facility environments. These innovations position Khazna NexOps at the forefront of data center operational technology.
Measurable Performance Improvements Across Key Metrics
Since establishing the Khazna NexOps team, the company has achieved measurable improvements across several key indicators, according to the announcement. Safety performance has reached zero Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate and Total Recordable Injury Rate, surpassing 2 million work hours in the past year without lost-time injuries.
Energy efficiency improved by approximately 2.3 percent compared to already ambitious baselines, despite challenging regional climate conditions. Meanwhile, operational readiness and consistency have advanced through improved training completion rates and compliance results via competency-linked task execution and standardized work practices.
Hassan Alnaqbi, CEO of Khazna Data Centers, stated that as AI workloads accelerate and computing densities increase, Khazna NexOps supports the broader mission of delivering resilient, efficient, and future-ready digital infrastructure. By bringing operations in-house, the company aims to strengthen accountability across all stakeholders while enhancing customer experience and scaling operational excellence to support rapid expansion.
The company plans to continue its phased rollout and digitization of the operations framework throughout 2026, though specific timeline details for completing the transition across all facilities have not been confirmed.
