Egyptian actress Cynthia Khalifa is making her return to Ramadan drama after a prolonged absence, marking her first participation in the annual television season since her role in the series “Harb Ahliya” alongside Yousra. The actress is set to appear in two major productions during this year’s Ramadan drama lineup, demonstrating her comeback to Egyptian television after years away from the small screen.
Khalifa will star in “Wenensa Elli Kan” with Yasmine Abdel Aziz and Karim Fahmy, written by Amr Mahmoud Yassin and directed by Mohamed El Khebiry. Additionally, she joins the cast of “Forsa Akhira,” appearing alongside Tarek Lotfy and Mahmoud Hemida in a drama that unfolds over 15 episodes.
Cynthia Khalifa Returns to Ramadan Drama With Dual Roles
In “Wenensa Elli Kan,” the actress portrays the sister of “Jalila Raslan,” played by Yasmine Abdel Aziz, according to production details. Her character is a famous actress who faces intense professional and personal struggles, becoming a pivotal element in the series’ development. The role marks a significant dramatic opportunity for Khalifa as she navigates complex family dynamics within the storyline.
Meanwhile, in “Forsa Akhira,” Khalifa takes on the role of “Farida,” wife to Tarek Lotfy’s character, a businessman engaged in heated dramatic conflict with Mahmoud Hemida, who plays a judge. The 15-episode series belongs to the concentrated drama genre with a fast-paced rhythm, featuring a story by Amin Gamal with screenplay and dialogue by Mahmoud Ezzat.
Scheduling Conflicts and Production Choices
The actress revealed that she had to decline participation in the series “Atr Sagantot” with Mohamed Ragab due to her commitments to two drama projects. According to Khalifa, the difficulty of coordinating filming schedules between multiple productions made it impossible to accept the role in the comedy series, which was written by Mohamed Samir Mabrouk and directed by Hani Hamdy.
Her decision highlights the challenges actors face when balancing multiple projects during Egypt’s competitive Ramadan drama season. However, the choice allowed her to focus on delivering strong performances in her two confirmed series, both of which offer substantial dramatic material.
Expanding Into Egyptian and International Cinema
Beyond her television work, Khalifa has completed filming her first leading role in Egyptian cinema through the film “Safah El Tagamoa” with Ahmed El Fishawy. The project marks the directorial debut of writer Mohamed Salah El Azab, representing a new chapter in the actress’s career as she transitions from supporting roles to lead positions in film.
Additionally, the actress is participating in her second Hollywood project, the American science fiction film “White Mars,” starring Lucy Hill, Luke Newton, and Sabrina Alba. In the film, she plays a scientist who discovers something mysterious and frightening inside an isolated research facility in Antarctica, according to production information. The movie blends thriller, horror, and science fiction elements in its narrative approach.
Horror Film and International Presence
Khalifa is also awaiting the release of the American horror film “Borderline,” which features Lucien Laviscount, Jamieson Fleming, and actress Sara Taiba in its cast. In this project, she portrays a strong young woman seeking revenge within a dramatically charged framework that carries humanitarian messages about protecting women and confronting violence.
The two Ramadan series are expected to premiere when the holy month begins, though exact broadcast dates have not been officially confirmed by production companies or television networks. Viewers anticipate seeing how Khalifa’s performances will be received after her extended hiatus from Egyptian drama.
