ME by Meliá Dubai is hosting CubixArt, a solo exhibition by Emirati engineer and artist Khalfan Almarashda. The show runs from 15 February to 7 March 2026 on the hotel’s third floor and is the first solo exhibition by an Emirati artist to be held at the property.
The exhibition features more than 30 large-scale mosaic artworks built from over 20,000 solved 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cubes. Each cube measures 28mm and contributes to compositions that explore identity, continuity, and creativity through a structured, methodical approach to image-making.
The works cover a wide range of subjects, including key historical figures, UAE national icons, Emirati heritage, Arabic and Islamic art and architecture, sports personalities, and cartoon characters such as Freej and Mario. Almarashda builds each piece by hand, cube by cube, turning a familiar everyday object into detailed portrait and cultural works.
Almarashda founded CubixArt and has built a reputation for mosaic portraiture that draws on both heritage and contemporary expression. His work has featured in exhibitions and installations across the UAE, and he received the Best Emerging Artist award at World Art Dubai.
ME by Meliá Dubai has an established identity as a space where art and design sit alongside one another. The hotel uses its public areas to host cultural programming and contemporary work from artists across the region. CubixArt fits within that ongoing commitment to supporting local creative voices.
