The 13th edition of the UAE President’s Cup for Falconry continued its competitions on the sixteenth day at Al Falah Field in Abu Dhabi, organized by the Abu Dhabi Falconers’ Club. The event concluded the rounds of the General Locals category, showcasing exceptional performances from falconers and their prized birds in various traditional falcon competitions.

According to the official results, multiple rounds featured intense competition across different falcon categories. The tournament highlighted the skills of both the falcons and their handlers, with several local participants earning top positions in their respective categories.

President’s Cup Falconry Competition Results

In the first round of the Hurr-Farakh category, the falcon “Al Jawhi,” owned by Saeed Musbah Mohammed Al Shadi, claimed the top position. The second place went to the falcon “Dabous,” belonging to Salem Saif Obaid bin Sulaij Al Ketbi, while third place was secured by the falcon “H26,” owned by Saeed Obaid Issa bin Khunaifor.

The second round featured the Hurr-Jarnas category, where Saeed Obaid Issa bin Khunaifor dominated the competition. His falcon “H44” took first place, while his second falcon “H99” secured second position. The falcon “Entaj,” owned by Ahmed Khalaf Baljafla Al Mansoori, finished third in this competitive round.

Shaheen Category Results

Meanwhile, the third round showcased the Shaheen-Farakh category, which saw the falcon “S30” from Nad Al Sheba team claim victory. Second place was awarded to the falcon “SH34,” owned by Nawaf Mohammed Abdullah Al Matrooshi, and third place went to the falcon “Marmarin,” belonging to Mohammed Ali Mohammed Al Balushi.

Additionally, the fourth round of the Shaheen-Jarnas category witnessed outstanding performance from the falcon “1,” owned by Mohammed Saeed Abdullah Al Mansoori, who secured the top spot. The falcon “S27” from Team RPJ finished second, while the falcon “Uranium,” owned by Saeed Rashid Mubarak bin Surood Al Mansoori, came in third.

Local Production Category Highlights

The fifth round featured the Hurr-Local Production-Farakh category, demonstrating the success of locally bred falcons. The falcon “Lahab,” owned by Hamad Jumaa Omair Saeed Al Falasi, captured first place in this significant category. Second place was awarded to the falcon “H33,” belonging to Mohammed Mubarak Mohammed Al Hajri, while the falcon “TX” from Dubai team secured third position.

The President’s Cup for Falconry represents one of the most prestigious falconry competitions in the United Arab Emirates and the region. The tournament celebrates the rich heritage of falconry, which remains an integral part of Emirati culture and tradition, attracting participants from across the country.

Cultural Significance

However, this event goes beyond mere competition, serving as a platform to preserve and promote traditional falconry practices. The General Locals category specifically provides opportunities for local falconers to demonstrate their expertise and the capabilities of their trained falcons in a professional setting.

In contrast to modern sporting events, falconry competitions maintain deep connections to Bedouin heritage and desert traditions. The various falcon categories, including Hurr and Shaheen classifications, recognize different falcon species and age groups, ensuring fair competition and comprehensive evaluation of falconry skills.

The Abu Dhabi Falconers’ Club continues to play a vital role in organizing such prestigious events, supporting the falconry community, and maintaining high standards for competitions. The club’s efforts contribute significantly to preserving this UNESCO-recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage practice for future generations.

As the General Locals category has concluded, the tournament is expected to continue with additional categories and rounds in the coming days. Organizers have not yet announced the complete schedule for remaining competitions or the final awards ceremony date.
