Venue and Training Facilities for Arab Women’s Basketball
Al-Bataeh Club will serve as the primary venue for the basketball competitions, hosting matches and official team training sessions throughout the tournament. Additionally, Al-Raqqa Child Center will provide supplementary training facilities, according to an approved operational plan designed to meet the highest technical and organizational standards.
The dual-venue approach ensures optimal preparation for all participating teams during the championship. This strategic distribution of facilities demonstrates the organizers’ commitment to supporting team readiness and maintaining competitive balance throughout the games.
State-of-the-Art Sports Infrastructure
Mohammed Abdullah bin Haleis Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Bataeh Cultural Sports Club, emphasized the significance of hosting such a popular sport in the central region. He noted that the club takes pride in its sports facilities and stands, which accommodate more than 500 spectators, providing an excellent atmosphere for the women’s basketball championship.
The venue’s capacity reflects the anticipated strong public interest in the tournament. However, authorities have not confirmed whether additional seating arrangements will be made if demand exceeds expectations during peak matches.
Growing Regional Support for Women’s Sports
The eighth edition of the Arab Women’s Club Games represents continued momentum in developing women’s sports across the Middle East. The basketball tournament specifically highlights the increasing investment in female athletic programs and competitive opportunities at the club level.
Meanwhile, the participation of seven teams across multiple disciplines demonstrates the expanding scope of women’s sports participation in the Arab world. The Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation has consistently positioned these games as a platform for promoting excellence and regional cooperation in female athletics.
Competitive Format and Tournament Structure
The report indicates that basketball will be one of the most attended and competitive sports during the multi-sport event. The ten-day tournament schedule allows for comprehensive competition among the participating clubs, though specific details about the tournament format and match schedule have not been publicly released.
In contrast to previous editions, this year’s basketball competition features representation from Iraq and Tunisia, expanding the geographic diversity of participants. This broader participation strengthens the tournament’s position as a significant regional sporting event for women’s basketball development.
The tournament is scheduled to conclude on February 12, with championship finals expected in the final days of competition. Officials have not yet announced whether medal ceremonies and closing events will take place immediately following the basketball finals or as part of a larger closing ceremony for all sports.
