130+ Companies, 5,000 Student and Alumni Visitors, and Strategic Industry Partnerships Shape the Future of Healthcare Careers

Gulf Medical University (GMU) held its Career Fair & Industry Partners Meet, drawing more than 130 companies and over 5,000 students and alumni. The event connected academic training with healthcare sector employment across the region.

Recruiters, HR managers, hospital administrators, pharmaceutical firms, healthcare technology companies, and research organisations set up stands from early morning. Students attended with resumes, portfolios, and questions about internships, residency programmes, research projects, and career paths. The day created dialogue between healthcare students and the organisations that employ them in the UAE and wider region.

Professor Manda Venkatramana, Chancellor of GMU, opened the event. He emphasised that the university’s responsibility goes far beyond awarding degrees. In his address, he noted that GMU prepares students not only for graduation but for contribution. He highlighted that the presence of more than 130 companies demonstrates the confidence industry leaders place in the university’s academic rigour, clinical training, and evolving curriculum. He emphasised that true education is measured by impact, and this platform allowed students to step directly into conversations that define the next phase of their professional lives.

Panel discussions ran throughout the day with HR professionals, GMU Deans, CEOs and Medical Directors from major healthcare institutions. Sessions covered workforce readiness, emerging healthcare skills, digital transformation, AI integration, and interdisciplinary expertise. The panels examined how academic programmes align with industry requirements, preparing graduates with competence, adaptability, and ethical foundations.

The awards ceremony recognised industry partners who support GMU through internships, recruitment channels, collaborative research, and professional mentorship. The awards marked sustained partnerships that strengthen the healthcare sector across the UAE.

Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder and President of Thumbay Group, attended as Chief Guest. He stated that the university’s vision has always been to build an integrated academic health system where education, clinical care, and research function as one ecosystem. He emphasised that this is not merely a career fair but a strategic platform that aligns with the UAE’s ambition to lead globally in healthcare excellence and innovation.

Participation numbers reached a new level this year for GMU. Student and alumni attendance showed confidence in the university’s industry connections, while corporate presence indicated demand for trained healthcare professionals. Networking sessions and a CV-building workshop supported students’ professional preparation.

The GMU Career Fair 2026 demonstrated the university’s contribution to healthcare workforce development. The event created a meeting point between education and employment, where students connect with mentors and potential employers. GMU maintains its position as an academic institution focused on practical outcomes. As the university grows its academic and clinical operations, these events ensure graduates enter the workforce with clear direction and relevant career options in the global healthcare sector.
